The Minister for Finance, Mr. Charlie McCreevy TD, today (7 May) announced an allocation of over €2.8 million under the 2004 Sports Capital Grants Programme for 26 clubs and organisations throughout County Kildare. (A full list of the individual club/organisation allocations is attached).

The Minister for Finance, Mr. Charlie McCreevy TD today (7 May) warmly welcomed the announcement by his colleague the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government of an investment of almost €217 million in County Kildare under the New Water Services Investment Programme 2004-2006.

The Minister for Finance, Mr Charlie McCreevy, TD, will chair the first meeting of the Council of Ministers of the new Enlarged EU of 25 Member States when the Council of Economics and Finance Ministers of the EU (the Ecofin Council) meets on 11 May in Brussels.

Today's ECOFIN Council had a discussion on the Commission's draft Broad Economic Policy Guidelines which have been updated and extended to cover the ten new Member States. Ministers agreed with the Commission's overall approach and the Council will have a more detailed look at the updated Guidelines in June, following which, they will be forwarded to the European Council, as is normal.
