The EU Budget – An Irish Perspective
The European Union budget finances various activities which underpin aspects of EU policies. These include agriculture (CAP), structural & cohesion funding, research, education, infrastructure, competitiveness for SMEs, fisheries, EU external actions, citizenship & security actions and a range of other areas. Ireland, along with the 27 other member states in the EU, is obliged to contribute to the EU’s budget and also benefits from a wide range of EU payments which help to support growth and jobs in Europe.
The EU Budget information leaflet (May 2015) provides information on the Budget, the Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020 and details of Ireland’s receipts from and payments to it
